Policy Update: Mar 5, 2020

What’s happening in the Capitol?  We are sad to report that the legislative session has ended with no additional bills passing, including SB 1563 to update the Limited Renewable Technician license.  Action on climate will happen through Executive Action by Governor Brown and Speaker Kotek called for a special session in the next 30 days.  It is disappointing that SB 1563, which was voted unanimously through the Senate, was not able to become law.  OSEIA will be back next session!

Community Solar Concerns

As community solar moves forward, OSEIA continues to stay engaged in order to make the program run smoothly.  Unfortunately, some roadblocks have popped up concerning projects in PGE territory.  This issue will be discussed at the March 10th PUC meeting. If you’d like more information or want to get more engaged, contact Angela.

Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) Update

The next steering committee meeting of PCEF will be on March 10th, from 6-9 pm in Portland.  The March 10th meeting will be focused on workforce development and contractor development.  OSEIA will be in attendance to hear presentations given to the committee members.  The latest timing is that the first round of applications will be open this summer, decisions will be made in the fall, with funding being released in early 2021.
